Dr. Sabrina Fernandes

Founder & Principal Consultant

Dr. Sabrina Fernandes is a Brazilian political economist and sociologist, and the founder and principal consultant of Gaiacenic. She holds a PhD in Sociology and a Master's in Political Economy from Carleton University, Canada, and has spent over a decade working at the intersection of research, political strategy and communications across Latin America, Europe and North America.

Her research and strategic work spans just transition, political ecology, ecological sovereignty and internationalist strategy; her communications work has reached hundreds of thousands of people across platforms and languages. She holds research fellow and advisory appointments at leading research centres, including a Senior Research Advisor role at the Technology & Industrialisation for Development (TIDE) centre at the University of Oxford and a Senior Leadership Fellow appointment at the Alameda Institute.

Sabrina works with organisations that want to understand the structural dimensions of the challenges they face and build the political and communicational capacity to respond to them effectively.

Gaiacenic engagements are built around each client's specific situation. Where a project requires expertise beyond Sabrina's own, she draws on a trusted network of researchers, communications specialists, scientists and other practitioners, assembling the team that best fits the task. There are no off-the-shelf solutions and no fixed packages, since our work is designed to be genuinely useful and authentic.
